8:00 AM - Key Note Speaker: Judge Dominique Jinhong
Dominiqué Jinhong received her undergraduate degree from the University of Puget Sound, and her Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law in1998. She is a fellow of Leadership Tomorrow, the WSBA Judicial Institute, and the Leadership School at Notre Dame. During her career, she has been a Special U.S. Attorney with the Social Security Administration, a Judge Advocate in the Army, and a deputy prosecutor. Prior to joining the Board in 2013, she was a senior civil rights litigator with the City of Seattle handling the Seattle Police Department's high profile Section 1983 Civil Rights suits in federal court. Before becoming a lawyer, Judge Jinhong was a potter and banker.

9:15 AM - Key Note Speakers #1: Sanyu Tushabe and Juan Alaniz
Sanyu Tushabe is the Recruitment Supervisor at the Health care Authority (HCA). She has also worked at both the Department of Corrections and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Sanyu is currently pursuing her MPA at the Evergreen State College.
Sanyu will speak about a Talent Acquisition Open House recently held by the Health Care Authority. The title of her presentation is “The Talent Acquisition Open House | The Seven Elements of Event Planning.”
Juan Alaniz is currently serving as the diversity and inclusion manager at the HCA. He has served in several state agencies including the Department of Health, DSHS, and HCA in various health program administration and health policy positions. Prior to joining state service, Juan served as a medical service officer in the US Army.
Juan will speak about diversity in recruiting. His presentation is titled: “Transforming…It’s Relational.”
9:15 AM - Key Note Speaker #2: Brenda Laban
Brenda Laban originally enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) and continued to serve when it was later merged into the United States Army. Her last active duty station was at 62nd Combat Support Hospital, Fort Lewis WA. She retired as a First Sergeant with 24 years active service which included serving four (4) years as a Drill Sergeant at Fort McClellan, Alabama; she also served as a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor at Tripler Medical Center in Hawaii and at Landstulh, Germany. She is a graduate of Saint Martin’s College with BS in Community Services. Brenda started her employment with the Washington State Employment Security Department, Pierce County Telecenter as an Intake Agent in February 2000. Within two years she was promoted to Unemployment Insurance Intake Lead. Since then she has also worked as an Unemployment Insurance Adjudicator, and Work Source Specialist 4 (WorkFirst). She is originally from Aruba, and can speak four languages. Being somewhat of an Island girl she loves swimming and dancing. But she now calls Washington her home and loves the changing seasons so unlike the islands. Through marketing and active job developments with employers advocating to hire veterans, Brenda currently works as the Pierce County Local Employment Representative at WorkSoure Pierce Job Service Center, Tacoma, Washington.
