    Unlocking the Potential: Bridging the Gap in Military Spouse and Veteran Hiring

    This presentation will explore the critical issue of employment opportunities and hiring practices for military spouses and veterans. It will focus on unlocking untapped potential, challenges faced by this population, and strategies and initiatives that can be implemented to create a supportive and more inclusive work environment. 

    Biography:

    Jessica Oxley is a workforce development professional with a background in military transition, veteran education, and military spouse employment. Jessica is an army veteran and an active duty military spouse.  She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University. Jessica is a Certified Workforce Development Professional, Certified Associate in Project Management, and an Accredited Financial Counselor®. She is a participate in the current cohort for the Mission Continues Womens Veteran Leadership program. Jessica is a Program Manager for Military Spouse Fellowships through Hiring Our Heroes, a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation program at JBLM.

                                                            

    Program Information:

    In this presentation, we will examine the intersection of military spouse and veteran employment issues, social responsibility, benefits of hiring military spouses and veterans, as well as best practices for the hiring and on boarding process. The focus of this presentation will be revealing and realizing the potential in these populations and the impact they have on our workforce.

    Throughout the course of this presentation we will identify challenges, highlight diverse skill sets and strengths, examine economic and social impact, and discuss empowering initiatives.

    • Learn practical strategies and initiatives to support a more inclusive work environment
