Beyond the Basics: Tackling Complicated Issues That Arise During Internal Investigations

Employers have a duty to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of alleged acts of harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, and unsafe work practices. But as HR professionals become more adept at conducting workplace investigations, they may find that complicated issues arise regarding confidentiality, privacy, recording, cross-complaints, and managing the scope of the investigation. Being prepared to overcome these challenges is necessary to ensure a successful and compliant internal investigation.
