    This training session is an interactive discussion with top local recruiters made up of public and private sector recruiters.  The discussion will center around current practices, social network recruiting, current technology and best practices.  Come enjoy small talk, get some insight, new ideas, and tools for recruiting techniques.

    Panelist are:

    Lonnie L. Spikes JR. MSHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, State of Washington
    Lonnie currently works at the WA State Dept. of Licensing (DOL) as a Lead Recruiter. He recruits for the agency with an emphasis on Veterans.  He administers protected leave programs such as FMLA & the Shared Leave program. He also serves as the Agency worker’s compensation, return to work, wellness program coordinator and provides back-up to the ADA Specialist. Lonnie holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management, a Bachelor of Science in the Public Management and a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Development. He obtained his SPHR certification and has been a member of SHRM since 2006. Lonnie has served as the 2011 President, Director of Programs and Director-at-large and has been with Olympia SHRM since 2007. Lonnie is also a retired military veteran. Lonnie and his family returned to the Olympia area after retiring overseas. They returned simply because Olympia was the most missed place from all of the places that they have lived in during his military career.

    Matthew Swena-Express Employment Professionals
    Matthew is the General Manager for Express Employment Professionals in Olympia and Centralia Offices – Serving Thurston and Lewis Counties where he has been since the beginning of 2015. Prior to that he worked as a project manager, CFO for Olympia Construction.  Matthew graduated from Walla Walla University in 2011 with a BA in Business Administration.  He grew up in Lewis County and recently bought a home in Centralia. When Matthew isn't at work, he is engaged and currently serves on the board of Young Professionals Lewis County – Member at Large, as well as Olympia Choral Society as the Vice President.

    Joshua Shawhan:
    Previous recruiting experience included 3 years in the telecommunications industry as a District Mgr, 11 direct reports, recruiting everything entry level to IT professionals.  5 years at a large staffing company as a Regional Manager, overseeing 15 direct reports, averaged 1200 temporary associates working on a daily basis. Recruiting efforts were focused on entry level all the way up to C-Level.  Recently left private sector recruiting to become a lead recruiter for the state’s largest agency-DSHS. 

    Lindsey Dicus:
    Lindsey Dicus has over 5 years of Recruitment experience in the private and public sector, previously as a HR Business Partner for Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and currently as a Lead Recruiter for the Department of Social Health Services. Lindsey is a  graduate of Central Washington University, where she received her degree studying Human Resources and Law and Justice. Her range of recruiting span’s across a variety of positions, from healthcare, support, IT, management, and specialties. Lindsey has been certified with her PHR since 2015.

    Jose Dominguez:
    Jose Dominguez is a recruiting professional with over 20 years of public service in human resources, recruitment, career services in higher education and state agencies. He was the Student Employment Director at The Evergreen State College, Career Center Director at South Puget Sound Community College, and Recruitment Administrator for Washington State Dept. of Social and Health Services. More recently he was a Senior Human Resource Analyst and Recruiter for King County Transit and is now recruiting for MultiCare Health System. Mr. Dominguez has a Master’s in Public Administration and is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified. He is a U.S. Army veteran and has a passion for helping transitioning military and veterans find jobs. He is currently writing a book on public service recruitment for government and higher education human resource professionals.

    • Being proactive in recruitment strategies. Projecting SWOT, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats.
    • Recruiting external and internal top talent.
    • Developing a network.
    • Creating a Performance Profile/Interview the Hiring Manager about the actual KSA/Objectives.
    • Recruitment as a partnership/consultation.
    • Coaching hiring managers on risk/best practices.
    • Applicant tracking system/reporting. Identifying trends, data support, etc.
    • Technology benefits for talent acquisition.

    The session wills start at 7:45am with a brief presentation by Big Brothers Big Sisters, then we will get started with our panel at 8:00am.
