    Biography:

Michele Wilsie is the Community Rates and Finance Manager at the Health Care Authority of Washington State.  This position entails ensuring that funding reaches every part of the state for Behavioral Health services. This includes the crisis system, inpatient treatment, stabilization and out-patient services.  Prior to this role, Michele was the CFO of a community mental health provider for 13 years.

Michele is a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer for adults, youth and safely and security officers.  She has been providing this training since 2008 and has trained over 500 people as Mental Health First Aiders.

    Summary:

Mental Health First Aid is the assistance rendered to someone who is experiencing a problem or a crisis.  Mental Health First Aid courses teach you to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorder.  The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support.  While we won’t be able to provide a full course, we will be talking about the steps used and tools offered during a crisis.

    Talking Points:

    •                 Is this a crisis? How to recognize the signs and symptoms.
    •                 Where to get help when you need it, for yourself or others.
    •                 Ways to support someone who has experienced trauma.
