Mr. Rodolfo Hurtado joined the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in August 1998 to fill the position of Program Analyst.  The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the outreach, training and public relations programs manager for the Seattle Field Office of the San Francisco District.  Mr. Hurtado’s duties include providing outreach, training and education to the general public concerning statutory and regulatory mandates needed to meet the requirements covered by the laws enforced by the EEOC.  Other duties include issuing press releases to print and electronic media on lawsuits and settlements of EEOC cases.

Prior to coming to the EEOC, Mr. Hurtado worked at the National Labor Relations Board, Seattle Regional Office (NLRB) for over 20 years.  Mr. Hurtado investigated Unfair Labor Practice Charges and Representation Cases filed with the NLRB.  In addition, he conducted hearings in representation cases assigned to him by the Regional Director.

On February 18, 2015 - Mr. Hurtado will be presenting on the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).  The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit.

Most employers with at least 15 employees are covered by EEOC laws (20 employees in age discrimination cases). Most labor unions and employment agencies are also covered. The laws apply to all types of work situations, including hiring, firing, promotions, harassment, training, wages, and benefits.
